Copmanhurst

The Copmanhurst skate park is another of the new council out of the box programs and is pretty good, however the bark chip gardens that are a feature of all the new parks, are ridiculous. I mean why put the gardens in between the concrete pad and the landing areas of the ramps ?

If people cant do airs they are going to have to land some tricks in the bark, and to do so requires a lot of precision and balance.

When I first went to this park, I had terrible wheels that had huge chunks missing out of them, but we were at Grafton recently and my tire came off so I got new wheels and I didn't want to ruin them by landing in the bark chips, so that could be a problem for people who want to conserve there wheels.

The skateboarders hate them as well, with everyone landing in the bark, it gets sprayed back into the ramps and the wheels on the boards get jammed on the chips, causing a lot of frustrating crashes.

The concrete seems slightly absorbent, maybe from rubber under it ? but I don't know.

All of these parks were built by a local company, Nano Build, the designs are pretty good.

This new out of the box program is a youth employment and recreational thing, from the Clarence Valley Council.
